An interview with Archbishop Samy Fawzy, Primate of the Anglican Province of Alexandria

The Most Revd. Dr Samy Fawzy was inaugurated on Tuesday 8th June, 2021

as Archbishop of the Episcopal/Anglican Province of Alexandria and Bishop of the Diocese of Egypt

at All Saints’ Cathedral Cairo

by his predecessor Dr. Mouneer Hanna Anis,

the First Archbishop of the recently formed  Province of Alexandria,

Dr Mouneer was joined  at the Service by Archbishop Justin Badi (Archbishop of South Sudan and President of the Global South), Archbishop Ezekiel Kondo (Archbishop of Sudan) and the Most Revd. Josiah Idowu-Fearon (Secretary-General of the Anglican Consultative Council and formerly Bishop of Kaduna and Archbishop of the Province of Kaduna in Nigeria),  and Archbishop Foley Beach (Archbishop of the Anglican Church in North America).

 

In this interview with Canon Alistair Macdonald-Radcliff, Archbishop Fawzy reflects upon his vision for the future of his Province as well as upon some of the wider issues facing the Anglican Communion as it prepares for the coming Lambeth Conference in 2022 as well as upon interfaith matters –in which the Diocese of Egypt has long played an important role.
