And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary: Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried: He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty: From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
Question. What dost thou chiefly learn in these Articles of thy Belief?
Answer. Secondly, [I learn to believe] in God the Son, who hath redeemed me, and all mankind.
Jesus – the Savior?
The testimony of the prophets is unanimous. Only God can create, only God can save and redeem. ‘I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to grave images’ (Isaiah 42:8); ‘there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
